Email Clutter... again

Posted

My earlier post solicited a response from Michael Sampson after which I formulated an automatic response that I might use.

Thanks for your email.

Although I cannot action your email right away (if it requires action), please note that I have received it.

If your email makes suggestions but does not specifically request a reply, please assume I have noted your comments and will consider them.

If you have something you wish to discuss with me, email is often not the best way. It might be better to meet with me by phone or in person. Please send me an outline of what you want to discuss, and we can go from there.

Thanks and God bless

I emailed it to Michael and he, quite rightly advised that parts needed softening. So far, I've changed a bit but still haven't been brave enough to use it!

Now, however, Web Worker Daily has posted an article about email bankruptcy. In it there is an example of an automated reply:

Due to a technical issue, there is a possibility I may never see your email. If it is important, please call me at xxx xxx-xxxx.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hmmm... my idea doesn't seem quite so hard anymore!
